Sharon Stone arrived late to the incredibly decadent Garrard Jewelers flagship store opening on Tuesday night, then made the understatement of the century: "These diamonds are nice."
Nice to the tune of a glittering single 104-carat brown diamond hanging on a white-diamond crusted necklace (if you have to ask the price, don't even bother), or the venerable British jeweler's latest offerings, its signature "rock 'n' roll" wings, fashioned in various elements and precious stones.
Garrard, the Crown Jeweler to the Royal Family since 1843 (and in business since 1722), splashed onto Two Rodeo by transforming it into a British street, complete with those ubiquitous red telephone booths graced by gorgeous gals in white satin, dripping in jewels.
Brooke Shields was the first to arrive and gazed with amazement at the huge crystal chandeliers strung over the red-carpeted street; Tara Reid soon followed, along with "Ugly Betty" star Eric Mabius, British beauty Vanessa Branch, and Styx guitarist Tommy Shaw. Actress Kelly Rutherford was so determined to check out the incredible jewels (and to pick up her amazing goodie bag gift, a 39-inch strand of luminous

pearls), that she brought her baby in a stroller.
But most of the extremely well-heeled partiers came sans children, in order to sip the free-flowing Veuve Cliquot champagne and contemplate Garrard's unique designs. Our favorite? The "Orrery" concentric-circle white gold and diamond necklace that allows the wearer to flip all the diamonds inward, or face them all outward.
"Bad neighborhood, good neighborhood," chuckled the Garrard salesman as he flipped them.
